SS 904L Seamless Pipe, SS 904L Welded Pipe, ASTM B677 UNS N08904 Pipe, 1.4539 Polished Pipe, SS 904L ERW Pipe Supplier in India.
Stainless Steel Pipe 904L is a non-stabilized, high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with very low carbon content. Copper is added to its composition to significantly improve resistance to strong reducing acids, particularly sulphuric acid. The SS 904L Pipe (UNS N08904 / WNR 1.4539) is non-magnetic, highly formable, and offers excellent toughness and weldability. Its chromium, nickel, and molybdenum content provides outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.
The 904L Seamless Pipe is used in environments where standard austenitic grades like 316L are no longer adequate. With a minimum tensile strength of 490 MPa and a yield strength of 220 MPa, stainless steel pipe 904L delivers both structural reliability and superior corrosion performance in warm seawater, chloride-rich environments, and aggressive acid conditions. Reliable Pipes & Tubes stocks 904L Stainless Steel Pipe in all standard schedules and OD sizes for immediate dispatch.
Our stainless steel pipe 904L is manufactured to ASTM B677 / ASME SB677 and is available in seamless, welded, ERW, and fabricated forms. It can be supplied in round, square, rectangular, hydraulic, and coiled configurations with surface finishes ranging from 2B to No.8 mirror polish as per customer requirements.

Stainless Steel Pipe 904L is a non-stabilized, high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with very low carbon content (0.02% max). Copper is added to the alloy to improve resistance to sulphuric acid and other strong reducing acids. It is non-magnetic and offers excellent formability, toughness, and weldability.
Stainless steel pipe 904L contains far higher amounts of nickel (23–28%), molybdenum (4–5%), and copper (1–2%) compared to 316L. This gives it significantly better resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and attack from sulphuric acid. 316L is a lower-cost alternative but offers much lower corrosion resistance in aggressive environments.
SS 904L has the UNS designation N08904 and Werkstoff Nr. designation 1.4539 per DIN/EN standards, with the European name X1NiCrMoCuN25-20-5.
Stainless steel pipe 904L offers good oxidation resistance but its structural stability declines above 400 °C. It can be solution heat-treated at 1090 to 1175 °C followed by rapid cooling. It is not recommended for applications requiring continuous high-temperature service above 400 °C.
